Moreton Hire’s commitment to reducing plastic waste in materials handling

Metal storage bins stacked, labeled "MORETON HIRE 600 kg," with ratchet straps and folded cardboard sheets nearby in a warehouse setting.

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency, Moreton Hire has eliminated plastic strapping from our materials handling processes and invested in high-quality, reusable strapping solutions.

Why We Made the Change:

  • Traditional plastic strapping is a single-use material that contributes to unnecessary waste and environmental pollution.
  • Disposal of plastic strapping can be challenging, as it often ends up in landfill or as workplace debris, posing a safety hazard.
  •  The shift to durable, reusable strapping aligns with our broader sustainability initiatives by reducing waste and promoting responsible resource use.

Our Sustainable Solution:

  • We now use high-quality ratchet straps and reusable fabric-based securing systems for materials handling and transportation.
  • These straps provide a stronger, safer, and more reliable alternative to plastic strapping while also being longer-lasting and reusable.
  • The transition has resulted in less waste generation, reduced costs over time, and improved workplace safety by minimizing excess plastic on site.

By removing plastic strapping from our operations, Moreton Hire is taking another meaningful step towards a more sustainable future—reducing waste, improving efficiency, and reinforcing our commitment to responsible business practices.
