The Gold Coast is a location close to our hearts here at Moreton Hire. Not only have we had a Gold Coast office and distribution centre for over 40 of our 55 years in business, we have played a major role in the events industry history in this part of the world. The Gold Coast has been home to some major events in our time, most notably the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 where Moreton Hire were engaged as the lead temporary infrastructure supplier, however it is also home of the annual Magic Millions Races, Polo and Sale Yards, the Indy V8 Supercars, Pacific Airshow and The Gold Coast Marathon, all of which Moreton Hire has been involved in for many decades.
The GCCEC opened its doors in 2004 with a major extension completed in 2010. The northern lawn at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre in our humble opinion is one of the best event locations in South East Queensland. Yes the GCCEC has a 20,000sqm capacity of exhibition hall inside, but their North Lawn has the space to build major marquee structures for your next event. Moreton Hire has been engaged on numerous occasions to build our quality German engineered and manufactured temporary structures (marquees!) in this sort after spot. The area can comfortably hold a 25m x 70m structure plus 10m x 20m marquee. This extends the exhibition centre’s events space to further cater for an event for 1800 cocktail or 1200 seated.
In 2020, when the world changed with the COVID pandemic, the Gold Coast Convention Centre became home to the Gold Coast’s first major vaccination centre. Built by Moreton Hire, we were engaged to set up a 25m x 70m structure with another 10m x 30m marquee attached. Fully custom fitted with all COVID safe requirements, this vaccination centre had the capacity to service up to 1500 vaccinations per day. This was an outstanding group effort with Gold Coast Health, The GCCEC and Moreton Hire.
