Waste & Recycling Exhibition 2022

Australians are looking towards the waste and recycling industry to drive positive change. AWRE is the premier business event for the waste, recycling and resource recovery sector, and is a place where the best come together to join forces for a world of solutions towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.

The Australasian Waste & Recycling Expo is Australia’s longest running marketplace for buyers and suppliers. They pride themselves on bringing together innovators and established brands under one roof for the ultimate waste and recycling event. 2022’s event was no exception and the ICC Sydney welcomed 1,500 waste management professionals, business leaders and government representatives to the two day expo in August last year.

Moreton’s Sustainable Focus

  • Sustainable fascia signage options
  • Recycled and reusable feature area displays
  • LED Lighting through exhibition build
  • Conscious reduction of MDF – including raised flooring

Moreton hire were thrilled to be the official exhibition supplier for the event in 2022, and worked closely with the exhibition organisers, Diversified Communications on some new sustainable initiatives when building the exhibition.

“I truly believe that a large Australian exhibition at a major venue can be built without MDF. We are on the path to implementing more sustainable initiatives into our everyday events and exhibitions. There’s a fair bit more work to be done, but investing into some of these key areas with AWRE has been a great start for the business.”
– Kevin Smith (Moreton Hire General Manager)

Sustainable Signage

All organiser signage was printed on a recycled and recyclable card based substrate – a product called DISPA. Likewise Moreton Hire were able to offer exhibitors this same signage option, which many took up. The theatre stage backdrops and feature areas were also built using a recycled and reusable card based material, and other recycled products including our own warehouse pallets.

It’s all in the detail!

Other than a huge focus on removing MDF and using recycled and recyclable card at the exhibition, the organiser hired furniture selected from Moreton Hire’s re-purposed range. Our furniture is often re-upholstered or re-coloured to give items a fresh look, as well as a recent investment in recycled polypropylene furniture for the exhibition industry. Along with all LED lighting used throughout the event, these are some of the sustainable details delivered. Interested to read more ?
