Moreton Hire Delivers Camp Gallipoli Across the Nation

April marked the 100-year anniversary of ANZAC day and Camp Gallipoli, a unique event, was held across five locations, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Hobart, in honour of the centenary commemoration.

Camp Gallipoli attendees watched historical footage, slept out under the stars as the original ANZACs did and attended a special Dawn Service.

According to Moreton Hire Director, Peter Morahan, the vision for the event was to create and celebrate an authentic experience.

The event organisers brief was to execute a special night of remembrance, entertainment, mateship, and birth of the ANZAC spirit,” he says.

Moreton Hire staff co-ordinated the theming of the elaborate war-themed stages, built and themed entrances, and display stands using pillow and sandbag, netting, and patriotic flags across five states simultaneously.

Sydney proved the greatest challenge as weather caused the event to be postponed at Centennial Park and then relocated and run 24 hours later at a Moore Park.

The relocation meant the team had to mobilise all stock and staff, then build the infrastructure within a 24 hour period before 5,500 patrons arrived.

The 12,000 pillow and sand bags that were used in the displays were all donated to the Salvation Army at the conclusion of the event.

The event was supported by the Anzac Centenary Committee, the Federal Education Department, RSL and Legacy.
